Kure
Spot of Interest
This is Japan’s first museum which displays a real decommissioned submarine with a length of 76.2 meters. Visitors can learn the history of JMSDF and the relationship between Kure and JMSDF through some materials which explain the tasks performed by submarines and coastal minesweeping activities.
You can be on board the gigantic submarine and see the rooms for the captain and officers and some equipment which are preserved as they were when it was retired. You can immerse your five senses in the atmosphere and living conditions of the submarine and learn about its structure.
