Mitarai – Hill Overlooking History Park

Kure Spot of Interest

The Hill Overlooking History Park is located in Mitarai on Osaki Shimojima Island, the fourth island in the Tobishima Kaido chain. From this park, you can enjoy an unobstructed view of Mitarai, a historic harbor town that flourished with the Seto Inland Sea trade routes during the Edo period (1603-1868). Offering a panoramic view of the Seto Inland Sea, you can gaze across to Shikoku’s impressive mountain range and the Shimanami Kaido’s Kurushima Kaikyo Bridge linking Imabari to Ōshima. The road leading to the park takes you past the region’s famous citrus fields, grown on steep terraced fields.
